Anyone got a decent understanding of the IRD quant group over there? I'm interested particularly in their coverage of prop trading , but I guess after decimating the old Sollys desks its not a well populated field?
Any pointers well received.

Sorry, just saw this. Why don't you do what other headhunters would do? You just call one of the guys in your massive portfolio of resumes who work (or worked) at Citi and say, "hey, Joe, long time no hear. Got a lead on quantitative trading job over at DE Shaw, maybe you'd be interested, or maybe you know someone?"
<>
after he calms down from dreaming of trading up on houses, cars, and chicks, you then put on the switch:
"oh, yeah, joe, by the way, I was trying to contact...er, John...man, it's been years since I spoke with John, you know he works in Citi quant IRD....I used to knock back pints with him here and there"
guys corrects you and says his name is George <>.
"yeah, that's it. George X.
Voila, he then, in the midst of his grandiose daydream of the bigger and better job, relinquishes the number.
you thank him and tell him that you'll contact him soon about the DE Shaw job.

well, the only catch is that most of the DE shaw jobs from HHs are mostly fake or imaginary Tongue out , happyas, asked the guy you're looking for, but unfornately he's unwilling to say anything...

M, tell him I'm mates with his boss!!!!
For once I'm more interested from a 'are they any good and what/how do they do it' approach, so more looking for a social chat than anything else. I would mortally offend my dark research team if I tried to do the name game for them.
I've actually since been told not to waste too much time as they are underweight at the very experienced end, and that they are likely to be hiring in that area, though not sure my source reads the press or has added up the value of the Citi SIVs that will need to be valued in next two years.
