Best Books Read in 2009

just bought "Shadows of the Mind" in the British Science Museum today. I'd read The Empiror's New Mind earlier in 08 and got through a lot, but not all, of Road To Reality. Started reading it today but it looks like a carbon copy of ENM.

haven't started yet. I got the English version whilst my wife got the Russian version. She's started it and says it's good.

On something related to "Shadows of the Mind", does anyone have a copy of Blum, Shub, Smale 1989?

Edit: to keep this on-topic, I recently got through "A canticle for Leibowitz" as mentioned in the 2008 thread. Quite enjoyable reading.

just read about "Wetlands" by Charlotte Roche in The Times. Looks pretty disgusting. anyone read it?

I have read parts of it....it is somehow disgusting....but I found it quite boring...
