Good idea FDax. We should contact Ser Ilyn Payne on that one.

Bloomberg Financial Software Developer program?

I have worked with a number of people from BLP and my success rate in placing them at hedge funds is very poor -- and I have tried NYC, Chicago, Philly, etc.

In my experience, the two best paths to quant trading are PhD OR C++ software development.

Since the PhD route is blocked, the development route would appear to be the best bet.

Question -- how good of a C++ developer are you? Are you an EE guy who's more of a C developer (that's my deduction based on the "another engineering discipline" + BLP which is very open to C programmers).

I've had success in placing folks from telecom, security, software, even back office groups who were incredible C++ folks, knew the language very well. Then, after a year or two building infrastructure at a high frequency shop, they naturally migrated to quant trading.

I'd recommend developing to Thomson Reuters.

But then I would as I manage the Developer Community !

Are you setting up on your own, as an Independent Software Vendor or as part of a financail institution?

Reason is, there are different programs and services for different entities. More here: www.reuters.com/developer

Any questions give me a shout

"Bloomberg employees do not have a good reputation in the market place, period"

What is the problem with Bloomberg developers? I thought that Bloomberg was viewed as one of the top places for financial technology. A number of people have from there to Google I noticed as well.
