Hi,
I am currently employed in the analytics section of an offshored unit of a bank for the past 3 years. I develop and maintain tools built in VBA Excel or ACCESS and C++.NET for future exposure calculation and parameter calibration projects. Though I find this interesting and my employers like my work I keep picturing myself owning a trading firm several years from now. I have developed a business plan for this but the money factor holds me back.
I am working towards this goal but I am interested to hear from phorum members who have struck out on their own as traders trading for their own accounts on the challenges they have faced to get where they are.
Regards

I'd say step one is get the hell out of that offshore bank unit and move to one of the local banks.

Clarification question, you want to own a prop trading firm or work for one?
You can email if you like and I can sing you a song, at least for US/NYC based prop.
