Street Freak

Recently picked this up on a recommendation from my partner. Was thoroughly entertained, finishing it in just a few days. His brutal honesty/introspection and witty writing skills made it for me. Littered with hilarious bits that had me giggling in bed, waking up the wife. Was especially interesting for me (CME trader) as I did not come up through the institutional trading floor ranks, but could easily relate to the immense pressures that stem from this career. My partner came up through a Barclay's equity desk, the realistic account struck home with him on many fronts. Definitely recommended, particularly for us younger guys (25-35).

Lots of fun, he is a great writer. But it's frustrating that no one can write a really good book about trading. This one captures some of the feeling perfectly and has a lot of the details right. But his broader picture of finance is more like Oliver Stone than reality. Maybe he was just angling for the movie contract.

I didnt know him enough but for a while after lehman's was on his distribution list of his daily dirt-nap which was a very colorful trader's commentary with a focus towards equities. It was a bit like Dennis Gartman with an equity-ish focus. The newsletter was well written would expect no less from the book.

Got this on my Kindle yesterday and enjoying it very much. I agree with the reviews posted so far. Very engaging writer, easy reading, perfect for an e-book format.
