If you really must be told that mathematics is desired for a quant career then you are too dumb for a career in finance. Go back to W****tt.

EDIT: Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. How old are you? Twelve? If you are in high school or younger than please forgive the above comments as we are used to university grads or older.

I was being polite and I just needed to know the views from headhunters.

I am pursuing a degree in Mathematics for your kind information.

Also I am aware that "Mathematics is desired for a Quant Career". However, I needed to know do the headhunters give preference to people who have studied Mathematics as their major or do they accept or willing to consider people who have taken part time applied mathematics course and have taken extra credit courses in mathematics.

FYI.- If you are having a bad day, please control your anger. I respectfully beg you to be civilized in your language because this is a forum not some foul language blog.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a HH, nor have I ever had to hire anyone. However I would suspect that it has less to do with your major but more so on what you can actually get done. So, EE vs. Physics vs. Math, whatever, as long as you can get the job done.

Though echoing what Tradenator was saying, figuring that out really isn't difficult.

@CompMathQuant: I'm going to forgo the lecture about "contribute before you ask" and mention something that is constructive. And that is if what Tradenator said, pre-or-post edit, offends then finance may be the wrong line of work for you. I can't say that finance is wholly populated with ultra-aggressive, "Type A's" but you do need the ability to take very harsh comments and just deal with it. I.e. "F@$k off Tradenator" would be more apropo then a snarky reply. Just saying and good luck with job search.
