It won't be, probably. You have to accept this was your own marketing strategy.
By the way, people running tens of billions in assets are NOT smart. Few of their employees potentially are, but the bosses are usually clueless. But you need to experience it by yourself as YOU obviously NEVER worked for any of them.

I agree people running tens of billions are not necessarily smart.
But their experience is relevant in regard to a few aspects, for example the arbitrage that some of their own clients tried to do with them, after learning about their strategy.
I have never worked for any of these big fund managers, you are right on that one as well.
But I do know quite a few of them in the +5 billions range, and also I know a few of their employees, I agree they both appear clueless on some aspects, but on other aspects I have found they have valuable experience. You may disagree.
Finally, I know some people that has been incredibly successful in the last 30 years, started with a small fund, only their own private capital, and they are much bigger today, still private capital, no clients money, they are a living example that markets can be beaten, year after year.
They are surely smart, and they have been mentioned in some academics paper as an example that markets can be beaten, together with other names that I won't mention here that you all know well.
In conclusion, I like the small operations, not the multi-billion dollar ones, and that is why I came here as a part of my marketing strategy, I thought I could find at least some people willing to discuss, maybe make some Q&A activity.
But I guess I was wrong, the NP's community seems way too smart for me.
Lucky me I know some other people that is not so smart as you all seem to be - I'll have a discussion with them, you know, we all second-grade IQ people do mingle well together.

Just wow...
Not going to state my name but other forum members can definitely vouch for my background so I guess what follows might or might not be considered an opinion.
In all honesty, intradaybill did you a favor and you just snapped from outside looking in. I actually do agree with intradaybill since even you said you have not posted enough information for him to properly evaluate you yet you somehow think you posted enough information for someone to back out your strategy or remotely link something about this thread back to you. Maybe I am even below these second-grade IQ people that I cannot comprehend this logic or maybe I just didn't look at the files that you removed. Whatever the case, if put simply, your reasoning is that someone is only going to fund you given that this post moves to the trash can then do contact the system admin about this. Otherwise, I am going to continue munching on my unicorn meat for lunch whilst I reverse engineer all of rentech's strategies. Chew
You also have to understand that this forum is unlike others. You can delete the files but discussions are kept because there will be others like you who would do something similar and we will simply refer them to your thread as an example.

Tabris,
why snapping?
Is it snapping if I answer back "you're wrong" to someone that crunches very superficially a few numbers and concludes: "your system is probably shit like all the others, you have just been lucky, don't even try to make it into a business".
Seriously: are you people for real?
If I had not been in this business for years I would probably give up tomorrow morning if I had to follow intradaybill's completely misleading and superficial analysis. He was really trying to help, I can see that, too bad he doesn't even know that the power law that I have discovered and use for my models has been also documented in an (unrelated) paper by 3 scientists and it is already in use at least at one hedge fund, so far, with very good results.
So, if I can chip in my 2 cents, I am not even sure that intradaybill does even know what he is talking about and still he goes around spitting sentences on other researchers jobs, without even knowing where they come from, potentially destroying their career, brushing off their results as if they were a pure matter of luck.
You gotta be kidding me. Is this a dream? Pinch me, I wanna wake up.
Who is the admin of this forum? What is his email address?
I want to put and end to this farce.

Trader5: "I have absolutely no idea who you really are and what you do for a living but I think I can fairly assume that you have never run successfully a fund in your life, while a few successful managers I know have been doing that since the 90s. All of them told me the OPPOSITE of what you said so far."
Turning a little ad hominen now? But of course people will tell you what you want to hear just to get rid off you. Obviously, they did not bother with analyzing your data, did they?
The fact of the matter is that you claim you want to manage funds but you had no idea how to evaluate your data. On the other side, I know how to evaluate data and maybe this is the reason I prefer not to manage funds. When you accept money from clients, you have to make sure you know how they will react in case a large drawdown hits your door, something that in your case is highly probable base don your data. But because I have managed funds and during difficult times I wish you good luck because you are going to need it.
"I assume you have experience as a 'consultant' but you have never made a dollar running a fund or trading yourself - correct me if I am wrong."
You chose the wrong person to attack, the one that tries to help you. This tells a lot about your character and your future trajectory.
"All this said, I have lost completely my interest in this useless discussion and I firmly require this entire thread to be TRASHED. "
Actually, your files are in public domain now because you posted them in a public forum. But believe me; nobody will ever want to look twice at data like that. So you have nothing to worry. As I said I tried to help you with things you do not know, only to find out that you are accusing me of not knowing things that some other people know. Bye.
P.S. I am in this business 30+ years and I have never heard of a power law trading system. I have heard about power law distributions but I, and possibly many others like me, have no idea how to use that to trade. Thanks for the laughs...

intradaybill:
"people will tell you what you want to hear just to get rid off you"
are you serious? do you realize that you do not even know the nature of the business relationship between me and my clients and you want to make a statement like that?
"Obviously, they did not bother with analyzing your data, did they?"
are you joking?
"You chose the wrong person to attack, the one that tries to help you."
are you sure you are trying to help me? or maybe you are actually damaging me and my business with your wrong conclusions? or maybe you are simply using this forum as a launchpad\promotion window for your own consulting service attacking other researchers work to promote your service?
"This tells a lot about your character and your future trajectory."
Really? You don't even know me and you think you know everything about me, my future, etc. You did the same, as with my data, you look superficially at it, and then you draw a wrong conclusion.
Congratulations.
And about the existence of power laws that can be applied to trading, the fact that you ignore their documented existence in scientific papers shows that you (and many others) are at least partially incompetent on what can be done or not with trading systems, and further disqualifies your credibility and your claims of being competent about "things that some other people know", as you said.

Its not snapping when you answer you are wrong but it does seem like you are getting worked up over it which would constitute as snapping.
I am not taking sides but if you calmly re-read thru everything as I have from an outsider perspective, there was nothing bad that he mentioned and I am just stating the obvious to get back into a cool/calm discussion:
He merely stated that your account 1 might be random but account 2 looks promising and also mentioned that you might suffer deeper drawdowns based on inconclusive data analysis that what you did was only applicable for one or two different regimes. This is constructive criticism and not "you are wrong, you just been lucky, don't even try to make it into a business". He merely says based on what you are willing to share from data side he wouldn't feel comfortable funding you with his clients money or introduce you to his boss.
Sometimes it is better to step back and take a breather then come back to it. Everyone has the same feeling that they spent multiple years of research looking for something that beats the market and that research should be treasured like their own baby. I understand that fully but this forum really is about helping other people and encouraging deeper/intelligible research and results.

Tabris, I am surprised you say this:
"This forum really is about helping other people and encouraging deeper/intelligible research and results".
to me, also reading many other posts and threads, it looks like this forum is all about bullying, bashing, and tearing apart anything and anyone that is not part of the 'NP gang', if you pass me that horrible term.
I may be wrong, but I doubt it.
PS - administrator where art thou? Please zap this entire thread. Thank you.
