Any colour on Bridgewater Associates

Post by Maggette »

I have read a lot on the web about their almost cultist "radical honesty" stuff: can anybody give some insight on how it is working there and how this corporate culture thin is really affecting the bussiness?

From the glassdoor reviews I take that it is rather annoying working under these principles.

Thx

I actually think Matt Levine has described the Smidgeblotter phenomenon best:

Insofar as I may be heard by anything, which may or may not care what I say, I ask, if it matters, that you be forgiven for anything you may have done or failed to do which requires forgiveness...

Dalio gave a TED talk last April:

How to build a company where the best ideas win

"What if you knew what your coworkers really thought about you and what they were really like? Ray Dalio makes the business case for using radical transparency and algorithmic decision-making to create an idea meritocracy where people can speak up and say what they really think -- even calling out the boss is fair game. Learn more about how these strategies helped Dalio create one of the world's most successful hedge funds and how you might harness the power of data-driven group decision-making."

Regarding the ted talk I think he is kind of "and then a miracle happens here" regarding the decision naking process. Whenever somebody refers to "algorithms" several times without giving any detail I think it is suspicious.

Probably their success is luck.
