Problem Calculating Value Area For Market Profile
If I were you, I would perhaps consider two value areas and look for 70% around both pics. Just an idea like that... ;-)
If you are not living on the edge you are taking up too much space.

Problem Calculating Value Area For Market Profile
Thanks goldorak. That is my inclination. I'm going to do a more comprehensive exploration of all the plots to see if this condition is prevalent. If it is I will come up with some multiple peak recognition code. This project keeps getting pushed to the backburner as other things keep making their way to the forefront. I have a feeling it will not be all that profitable but we will see.

Problem Calculating Value Area For Market Profile
Hello opmtrader,
I was asked by my "pit trader boss" to convert some of his old ideas using market profile. So i read up on it and quickly wrote the code to construct the market profile (in matlab of course). I immediately ran into the eact same problem that you describe here. Was the problem solved. Is it possible for you to share the code ??
Thanks,
tpt
