sorry to dig this up but why is there predujice against applied maths and physics graduates for quant positions? I dont totally understand the problem with pure maths graduates either

not against, towards. e.g. favour people more likely to have some hands on experience juggling data, programming, etc.

obviously a broad brush statement, there'll be more theoretical people that have done a lot of hands-on work, and many more applied people with no interesting skills on that side.

Ah sorry I misread.

Still dont fully understand whats wrong with pure maths. I dont think many people will walk out of any physics or applied math programmes and have any ability in coding (one module in java doesnt count).
