They hired 3 $ IRD traders recently, one of them being a frnd of mine. I found this after I noticed that I started seeing them more often than usual in the market.

My other comments were on 5 MBS traders actually...

Well, I don't know anything about what may or may not be "up your alley", but I know that a shitload of people have been joining the London credit struct desk, half or a quarter of a load in NYC, and maybe one or two in Asia. No end it sight.

"BarCap added 1,300 jobs worldwide in the first seven months of this year, taking its payroll to about 7,000... BarCap has been the most aggressive hirer in the market this year, paying way above premium to new hires, with lots of deals involving guaranteed bonuses of around two years,' said a source. Stories of young proprietary traders offered pay packages of more than £1m (€1.5m) have attracted recruits while deterring their previous employers from trying to keep them. "
You might very well think that, I couldn't possibly comment.

Are they also on a buying spree? they're in the final stages of taking out the biggesst retail bank here (South Africa). With 30% of the domestic market and bits and bobs throughout Africa, it's quite a big punt. Are they doing the same sort of thing elsewhere/
