Nonius, what can I say? Maybe we just got a dumb one! At our old house we had two doors leading to the back porch, one from our bedroom and one from the kitchen.
I can't tell you how many times I would open one of the doors, and see him standing by the other door. That, in itself, is not dumb.
But, when I would call him, he would look at me standing in an OPEN doorway, then look at the closed door. Then he would look at me again, and then scratch at the closed door. He had it in his head that whichever door he went out, he HAD to use the same one to go back in. Maybe he feared falling into a parallel universe!

It's part of evolution. Things can be smart and cute, but this is rare. Things can be dumb and cute, or smart and ugly, but things that are dumb and ugly do not last long enough to procreate.
Your pom is very cute though, as is ours. He is the Fabio of dogs! If he was a female, he would be the Paris Hilton of dogs.
