I've got a recommendation from a professor who did his masters/phd at NYU courant. Sweet. Now, I'm supposed to write why I want to transfer to NYU and I want to maximize the probability of me getting in. So if anyone has any insight (like buy the professor's book and show up for a visit and tell them how awesome they are) like " old yeller caused me to apply to NYU " etc....then I would be much indebted :) Read : I'll bring my hot gf's friends and invite you for some beers or whatever your poison might be. (they're very hot!)

Well, why do you want to transfer to NYU?

EDIT: "reputation of the university" (or department) / "available courses" / "ability to take electives in other departments" or "flexible structure of the degree" / "presence of faculty with similar research interests to mine" would all seem like decent reasons for wanting to apply, but perhaps you need to say something more/different in a transfer application.

Thank you danko for that profound bit of advice. I was just being lighthearted. I wasn't trying to sound like I was showing off by saying i have a hot gf but more along the lines of trying to entice anyone with relevant knowledge to step forth. But point taken.

Jungle : basically everything you wrote in your edit portion. Was just wondering if there was something in particular that could help, like a recent trend or something along those lines. I know Bachelier seems quite knowledgeable on the nuances of admittance issues that aren't general knowledge. thx

What is different/unique about NYU that you want to transfer there over anywhere else?
