Racism after Brexit

I was forbidden to write about this in the Brexit thread, so here it goes.

In the last 4 days there has been a significant increase in racial abuse/threats/crimes.

The majority of foreigners living here have experienced one of these.

Police reports a significant increase in racially motivated crimes.

Shops with foreign names get their windows smashed and attacked with liquid bombs.

Investment bankers with non-white skin get abused ("monkeys in suits").

Things are getting scary here and it feels like we are approaching an era long thought gone in European politics.

Hedge funds and banks report (face to face) that they fear for their polish staffers.

I'm not sure how an economy like Britain which requires foreign investments can survive this.

And at this point only a complete lunatic (or racists) argues that 52% voted pro-Brexit for economic reasons.

We have Donald Trump and now you have Boris Johnson. Carry on.

but with Donald Trump nobody has been murdered yet.

The last argument for London surviving as a financial center after brexit was its ability to attract talent from all over the world.

That's gone.

I'm not going to claim to be a great epistemologist of UK socio-economics, but even I know that the news/media's job is to sensationalize things. That's their only way to make sure you keep on watching. I'm not claiming what you say isn't happening but you're making it sound like there is a race-war going on.

If there's gonna be a race-war, which side will you be on? Before you chose, consider this exchange from the movie In Bruge:

Jimmy (Peter Dinklage): There's gonna be a war, man. I can see it. There's gonna be a war between the blacks and between the whites. You ain't even gonna need a uniform no more. This ain't gonna be a war where you pick your side. Your side's already picked for you.

Ray (Colin Farrell): And I know whose side I'm fighting on. I'm fighting with the blacks. The whites are gonna get their heads kicked in!

Jimmy: You don't decide this shit, man. Your side's already picked for you.

Ray: Well, who are the half-castes gonna fight with?

Jimmy: The blacks, man. That's obvious.

Ray: What about the Pakistanis?

Jimmy: The blacks.

Ray: What about... Think of a hard one. What about the Vietnamese?

Jimmy: The blacks!

Ray: Well, I'm definitely fighting with the blacks if they've got the Vietnamese.

[pause]

Ray: So, hang on. Would all of the white midgets in the world be fighting against all the black midgets in the world?

Jimmy: Yeah.

Ray: That would make a good film!

Jimmy: You don't know how much shit I've had to take off of black midgets, man.

A race-war is not on the horizon. That's something more likely to happen in the US, I think. And periodically it does lighten up regionally.

But unlike the US the UK's economy requires a large supply of foreigners to live here. It's is woven into the core fabric of the economy:

-large parts of the unskilled labor force is Eastern European.

-large parts of skilled workers is foreign (the stereotypical polish plumber)

-very large parts of the NHS staff is foreign (nurses and doctors)

-almost the entire care taker work force is foreign

-large parts of academia is foreign

-large parts of the academically educated work force is foreign

Just 1-2% of this work force leaving will have enormous consequences.

kitno... you should ask yourself why you react like this.

Politics generally does. Phorum guidelines. I suggested a vent for this particular discussion elsewhere. I am giving you some friendly advice but it's up to you.
