Deep Thought

I've been reading Deep Thought, Kasparov's book on AI in chess and in general.



Has anybody read it?



It's quite enjoyable. Obviously he loves writing about chess, but it's actually a good book on the philosophy of AI and deep learning.



Somehow he manages to get this "truth out of the mouths of babies" thing - he doesn't know about trees, so he looks at the forest. And it's quite interesting what he sees.



Anyway, I am only half way through. It may still go south. But so far, good return on ten quid or so.

It was a perfect read for a lazy summer.



My impressions, Garik Kimovich Weinstein

is not a humble person (I was tempted to count the

number of occurrences of the word I in the book)

and a sore looser (he acknowledges it himself.)



As per deep thoughts, I didn't encounter any.

Haven't searched enough.

Indeed he is not, but he has enough rights not to be

Well, finally yes but recalling how he struggled (and won) against Karpov (I watched it, being a pre-teenage kid) and as he has beaten the Deep Thought (the predecessor of Deep Blue), his (mis)behavior is IMO (partially) forgivable
