Pigeonholed, bored and fading fast / need advice of a headhunter

I feel badly pigeonholed in my current role and am starting to fade. Although I like my firm and wouldn't otherwise want to leave it, my particular position is getting boring. I also feel that enough people are senior to me for the most interesting projects (been there longer, PhDs) that the situation is not going to change in the near future.
Are there any headhunters out there who can help me weigh my options? Interesting work is an extremely high priority, trumping pretty much anything else. I am willing to leave finance if I can get similar pay. (Actually, I'm slightly biased against finance.)
