Why would you do something like that at SOAS rather than LSE or Birkbeck?  I would have thought both of those have a better reputation in that field.
it's axiomatic, deal with it.

The biggest draw, regretably, is that I have to be able to do it fully via distance program, for a number of reasons both professional and personal. I'm only hoping that it's not a punchline program, though it isnt LSE either. They offer a distance undergrad in econ through LSE, but the MSc is with SOAS.

Best I could do I think.

I wouldn't expect much from Financial Economics at SOAS. That being said, I never had any experience with them with regard to economics, though I have taken a Cuban music course there and had a chance to get to know SOAS a bit. Its focus is completely different, its the School of African and Oriental Studies after all... If it is the only London MSc suitable for you, maybe you should search outside of London? Is part-time MSc at Birkbeck out of the question?

Rookie_Quant, did you take this course in the end ? (Or anyone else here for that matter)

I am interested in the successor course, MSc Finance, and was wondering if you had any comments on the course.

Thanks.
