General time frames I've heard from people that have finished them is 2-4 weeks per level 1-3 and only a day or two for level 4.

Can anyone offer comparison between the PRM exam and those offered by GARP (FRM/ERP)? Which carries more weight in the field? Is there much overlap in subject matter?

PRM is more academic and is easier to take. FRM requires more practical experience and is harder to take (one in-person session per year).

PRM tells people you're reasonably smart and know basic risk and financial math. FRM tells people you have a working knowledge of practical risk management. Either one tells people you've made an investment in the field.

I'm rather late in responding but anyway...Aaron is spot on.  If you're going to invest any amount of time and energy, put the extra time in for FRM - it carries more weight on a CV and you'll actually benefit from it assuming you're working in risk or trying to.  Are you 100% set on risk? It's certainly an indication of committment... I'll be taking it next year. Le sigh.
