Quant firms that are actually enjoyable to work at

I worked at JSC two summers ago and while it was fun and people were definitely very smart, there were a lot of douchebags/overly competitive people/people who don't know how to carry a conversation there.

Are there quant firms that actually hire people who have normal conversations in addition to geeking out every now and then. Weird question, but some balance in corporate culture at these firms would be amazing.

(Please don't tell me how the hiring processes select for these kinds of people; yeah, I'm aware of that)

Wow, that's a rather supercilious look on things, which basically amounts to saying that only dicks can do well in quant roles.

No, I didn't mean dicks. I meant people who are so focused on what they're doing that they're not going to chat with you about football.

i find that european quants/nerds are completely willing to talk about "FUTBOL" ... talk endlessly ... at great length ... about "futbol" ...

their obliviousness to your lack of interest demonstrating every stereotype about an inability of quants to pick up on social cues

(as a rule), american quant/nerds don't talk about football
